Your Bridal gown may be the most costly wardrobe purchase you ever will ever make. Considering the cost of the gown, preserving its beauty for future generations seems a reasonable investment. Have your gown preserved within a few weeks after your wedding. The longer your wait, the more difficult it becomes to remove stains. While perspiration stains and soil around the hemline are common, be sure to point out any additional stains you know about. Unnoticed stains, such as soda or champagne, will oxidize after being stored away, causing the spot to yellow. If your gown came with any specific cleaning instructions, bring them to the attention of The Wedding Chapel, or other cleaners, when you bring your dress to be preserved. The Wedding Chapel offers gown cleaning and preservation packages. The gown is gently cleaned and then packed in an airtight box, which prevents oxidizing (discoloration). The preservation box has a view window for admiring your bridal gown. Store the box in a cool, dry place. Avoid attics, which are usually too hot and can cause yellowing, or basements because they promote mildew. Properly preserved, your gown will be perfect for your daughter or granddaughter to wear! Please allow
ten to twelve weeks for the entire process. Ask your bridal consultant for more details. |
